The University Grants Commission (UGC) has called on all colleges and higher education institutions (HEIs) to submit nominations for the Padma Awards 2025.

Institutions can recommend deserving individuals through the Rashtriya Puraskar portal by July 31, 2025, the link for which is https://awards.gov.in.

HEIs must log on to awards.gov.in and fill out the complete nomination details, including a detailed citation of up to 800 words describing the

nominee’s work. It should clearly explain why the person is being recommended.

The award committee is especially looking for people with a record of lifetime excellence in their fields.

Posthumous nominations are usually not accepted, unless the person passed away within a year of the Republic Day 2025. If someone has already received a Padma award before, a higher category may be considered after a 5-year gap (unless the case is exceptional).
