The University Grants Commission (UGC) has directed educational institutions across the country to expedite the process of filling vacant positions on their campuses. Institutions must report the status of their recruitment efforts to the UGC by July 31, 2024.

In an official notification, the UGC urged universities, deemed-to-be universities, and colleges to take immediate action in filling vacant teaching and non-teaching positions. The UGC emphasized the need for these institutions to upload the status of their recruitment

process on the UGC’s University Activity Monitoring Portal (UAMP).

The UGC’s directive is based on the regulations outlined in the University Grants Commission (Minimum Qualifications for Appointment of Teachers and other Academic Staff in Universities and Colleges and other Measures for the Maintenance of Standards in Higher Education) Regulations, 2018. These regulations specify the minimum qualifications and service conditions for university and college teachers, ensuring the maintenance of standards in higher education.
