The University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) June 2024 re-exam is scheduled to take place from August 21 to September 4. In a significant shift, the NTA has opted to conduct the UGC NET re-examination in a computer-based test (CBT) format, moving away from the pen-and-paper mode used for the first time in the June edition of the exam.
The UGC NET was cancelled on June 18, just a day after it was
held. The cancellation came amidst concerns that the "integrity of the examination might have been compromised."
The UGC NET June 2024 was conducted across 1205 exam centres in 317 cities nationwide, accommodating a total of 11,21,225 candidates. Among them, 6,35,587 were females, 4,85,579 were males, and 59 identified as third gender. By comparison, the UGC NET Exam in December 2023 had 9,45,872 registered candidates.
