The University of Southampton, a premier UK institution and founding member of the prestigious Russell Group, has been granted approval to open a branch campus in Gurugram, India. This significant development was endorsed by a standing committee comprising eminent academicians from India and abroad, paving the way for the issuance of a Letter of Intent in compliance with regulations.
Notably, the degrees awarded by the new Indian campus will mirror those granted by the University of Southampton in the UK, ensuring the same high academic and quality standards. The branch campus will offer programmes in a wide array of disciplines, including business and management, computing, law, engineering, art and design, biosciences, and life
sciences.
The academic framework and curricular structure will be designed to uphold the rigour and excellence associated with Southampton's name.
The University of Southampton's global reputation is evidenced by its rankings, being placed 81st in the QS World University Rankings 2024 and 97th in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2024. As a research-intensive institution, the university is dedicated to the Triple Helix model of education, research, and impact.
A diverse mix of faculty will be drawn from both the UK and India to ensure a rich, multinational educational experience. The Indian campus is slated to commence its academic programmes in July 2025.
