Upskilling India's youth can turn it into world's third-largest economy: PM Modi at Rozgar Mela

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, virtually addressing a 'Rozgar Mela' or employment fair in Gujarat on Monday, said that upskilling India's youth could turn it into the world's third-largest economy, up from the current fifth position.

Over 1.5 lakh young people were given government jobs in Gujarat during the course of the previous five years, according to PM Modi. He stressed the importance of developing a skilled and qualified workforce to take advantage of the expanding prospects in numerous industries.

"For the new opportunities being created in the country, we need to create skilled manpower on a large scale. India can achieve the target of



becoming the third-largest economy only by skilling its youth," he said.

In his home state of Gujarat, which is governed by the Bharatiya Janata Party, PM Modi claimed that approximately 18 lakh young people received work through employment exchanges over the course of the last few years (BJP).

"During the last five years, the Gujarat government gave jobs to 1.5 lakh youths. Moreover, nearly 18 lakh youths received jobs through employment exchanges during the last few years in Gujarat," said the PM.

Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel was present as more than 2,500 young people received recruitment letters at the 'Rozgar Mela'.
