Dr. B.R Ambedkar Open University has decided to offer undergraduate courses in the Urdu medium this academic year.This comes following a meeting convened by Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali with the university officials at State Secretariat here on Friday.
Mahmood Ali said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao accords top priority for offering quality education in Urdu medium and accordingly Urdu was made official language of the State.
He made it clear to the university officials that admissions should continue for courses in Urdu medium.
The Deputy Chief Minister asked university authorities to take assistance from Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) to translate the
work.
It may be mentioned here that BRAOU has made changes to syllabus of the courses and course material was not available in Urdu medium.
A senior official of the University said that varsity would continue to take admissions in BA Political science, public administration and history and BSc Botany, Zoology and Chemistry combinations.
The varsity would take assistance from MANUU and Urdu Academy in getting syllabus translated into Urdu, senior official said, adding that it would take some time.
If students want to study with Telugu and English medium course material, the same would be provided. However, examination should be written in Urdu only, he said.
