Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu today called upon the youth to imbibe the spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation. Mr Naidu asked the universities and educational institutions to equip the students with 21st-century skills so that they can emerge as job creators.
Addressing the 50th convocation of Utkal University in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, the Vice President reminded the students and faculty of India’s glorious tradition of international education. He emphasised the need to bring back great Indian tradition of holistic education. Mr Naidu said, aim of education is to build character and create well-rounded individuals.
The Vice President called for making disaster management integral
part of school education. Urging the youth to fight against social evils like gender discrimination, casteism, communalism and corruption, Mr Naidu termed the youth as the key for change.
The Vice President also presented the Honoris Causa conferred by Utkal University on five eminent personalities, Shaktikanta Das, Governor, Reserve Bank of India, Girish Chandra Murmu, Comptroller and Auditor General of India, Kumari Justice Sanju Panda, Orissa High Court, Dr. Ajit Kumar Mohanty, Director, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) and Dr. Bijaya Kumar Sahoo, Advisor, Government of Odisha. Odisha Governor and the Chancellor of the University, Prof. Ganeshi Lal among others were present.
