At the 55th International Film Festival of India, it was a packed house at the Kala Academy in Goa’s Panjim as legendary composer A.R. Rahman attended the Lata Mangeshkar Memorial Talk: Musical Theatre in India.
Discussing the state of musical theatre in the country, Mr. Rahman said that Indian theatre has yet to achieve the grandeur and impact that Indian cinema has attained.
Reflecting on the legacy and voice of Lata Mangeshkar, Mr. Rahman shared that he was awestruck when he first heard her
sing, describing her as the epitome of perfection.
Mr Rahman also shared his vision for the future of music technology. He spoke about his dream to harness the power of Artificial Intelligence to make music creation accessible to all, especially those without traditional tools or resources.
Today marked the final day of the Masterclass sessions. With only a handful of films left to be screened, the film screenings are also coming to a close at the festival.
