When we think of Indian cricket, one of the foremost memories that come to our mind is Kapil Dev and his squad lifting the World Cup in the year 1983 at Lords Stadium. Well, do you wish to see that iconic moment on the big screen? Your desire might be fulfilled soon as Kabir Khan is planning to recreate it in a movie.
Talking about it, a source stated to a leading tabloid, "A mammoth event is being planned to announce the film on September 27. The makers hope that the Indian players who brought the cup home will grace the occasion."
There have been reports that Ranveer Singh and Hrithik Roshan have been approached for the film. But, now Arjun Kapoor has emerged as one of the top contenders to play the role of Kapil Dev.

The film is reportedly titled World Cup 1983 and will be produced by Phantom Films and Vishnu Vardhan Induri, who is the founder and managing director of the Celebrity Cricket League (CCL). Rumour has it, the film will be written by National Award-winning director Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan.
Meanwhile, Kabir Khan's last directorial Tubelight failed to impress at the box-office and there were reports that he might be teaming up with Hrithik Roshan for his next film. While talking about Arjun, he has several movies in his kitty including Dibakar Banerjee's Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar and Vipul Shah's Namastey Canada both with Parineeti Chopra.
