The trailer for the highly-anticipated film – Dhadak – starring Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter is finally out. Unlike the original Marathi film Sairat, which was set in rural Maharashtra, Dhadak is set in Rajasthan and narrates the story of the two star-crossed lovers. The three-minute Dhadak trailer will see Jahnvi Kapoor making her debut alongside Ishaan Khatter, who appeared in Majid Majidi’s latest outing, Beyond the Clouds.
Sprawling havelis, breathtakingly beautiful step-wells, shots of a lone bike on an isolated road cutting through the picturesque Thar Desert, Dhadak seems like a fairytale right up until the point we are introduced to Ashutosh
Rana, the politician father to Kapoor’s character who, as we know because of Sairat, is dead against Kapoor and Khatter’s characters’ romance due to the difference in their social status.
Sairat, which became the first Marathi film to gross ₹100 crore at the box office has already been remade in Punjabi and Kannada. Remakes of Sairat in Telugu and Tamil are underway but Dhadak perhaps remains the most anticipated of the lot.
The Dhadak trailer also reveals that it will retain at least two songs from the original — ‘Yad Lagla’ and ‘Zingaat’ — besides a bunch of fresh numbers from Ajay-Atul who had also composed for the Sairat.
