Legendry Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan has taken a big step over gender equality. The actor announced on social media that he plans to leave an equal share of his wealth to his son and daughter.
The actor on Thursday tweeted an image which said, “When I die, the assets I shall leave behind, shall be shared equally between my daughter and my son #genderequality #WeAreEqual.” He captioned the picture as, “#WeAreEqual .. and #genderequality … the picture says it all !!”
It's just a week to go before we celebrate Women's Day but Amitabh Bachchan has already made the most important statement for gender equality. The actor is considered a change maker in the country and his action is expected to at least get a discussion started.
The move has a lot of relevance in India where traditionally a father hand overs his all to his
sons. Despite courts coming to the aid of beleaguered daughters, the tradition continues as is.
Big B has two children actor Abhishek Bachchan and daughter Shweta Nanda. Taking to his blog, the actor seems to be talking about the image when he says, “The office of the public servants that promote various campaigns are keen for this .. and so I do it .. though talking about it and exhibiting its plea is hesitating for me ..”
Bachchan has often spoken about how fortunate he considers himself to still be working at the age of 70-plus.
Just two years ago, he won his fourth National Award for Best Actor, for the film Piku.
On the work front Amitabh Bachchan starred in three films last year - Wazir, Te3n and Pink.
This year, he stars as the title character in Sarkar 3, the trailer of which has just been released.
