In Assam, the third edition of the Guwahati International Film Festival will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in the presence of noted filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar in Guwahati today.
The week-long festival is being organised by Assam government-owned Jyoti Chitraban in association with the Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Regional Government Film and Television Institute. 100 films from 65 countries will be screened during the 3rd edition of
the Festival. The inaugural ceremony will have renowned Polish filmmaker Krzysztof Zanussi as the Chief Guest.
Iran is the focus country in this edition of the film festival. Acclaimed Iranian film "Charcoal" will be showcased during the inaugural ceremony. The categories of movies to be showcased during the week-long fest include 150 years of Gandhi, a retro of Zanussi, North East Kaleidoscope among others.
