Los Angeles: Singer Adele’s record-breaking album ‘25’ has now sailed past five million sales in the US.
The 27-year-old “Hello” singer released her third studio album on November 20, and in its third week on sale, the disc has sold another 5,10,000 copies, pushing her over the five million mark in America, according to Billboard.
She shattered N SYNC’s single-week sales record in America by chalking up 3.38 million units in her first week,
and then became the first artist to record two successive one million sales weeks seven days later.
Adele’s great 2015 run now include scoring the top prize at the BBC Music Awards, where she was named the British Artist Of The Year.
Her new record beats the one she set in 2011, when she sold five million copies of “21” in a calendar year.
“25” is now one of only 11 albums released since 2005 to sell five million units.
