On May 18, the Supreme Court stayed West Bengal government's order banning The Kerala Story in West Bengal and Telangana. A day later, the makers of this film held a press conference in Kolkata on May 19. The movie's director Sudipto Sen and actress Adah Sharma addressed the media at the event. And producer Vipul Shah, too, virtually joined the press conference. Through his virtual presence, The Kerala Story producer responded to the media questions.

Vipul Shah answered media queries. During the event, the makers of the film also showcased a video clip, in which real victims spoke about the film’s story where they mentioned that it is true and a lot more than 32,000 women have gone missing.

Sudipto Sen also alleged that the theatre owners received calls not to show the film. "We are in constant touch with distributors from West Bengal, we are receiving calls from hall owners that they are receiving calls to not show the film (The Kerala Story)," he said at the event.
