Mumbai: Veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar was recently admitted to the ICU of Mumbai's Breach Candy hospital after she tested positive for COVID-19. Now, as per her latest health update, the legendary singer continues to remain under observation in the ICU.
In a conversation with a news agency, the doctor treating her said, 'She continues to be in the ICU under observation. We have to wait and watch. Pray for her recovery. She will continue to remain in the hospital.' A couple of days back, Lata Mangeshkar's niece Rachana Shah had told the news portal that the singer is doing well now. She said, 'She is doing well, and we are happy about it. Everyone's prayers have worked. Kindly, keep our privacy in mind.' Earlier, she only confirmed the news of the singer contracting the deadly virus.
When Lata Mangeshkar got admitted to the hospital, Rachana said, 'She is doing fine; has been kept in ICU only for precautionary reasons considering her age. Please respect our privacy and keep Didi
in your prayers.'
The 92-year-old singer tested positive for coronavirus with mild symptoms and was admitted to the hospital last week. Earlier, in a conversation with ETimes, her sister Usha Mangeshkar also opened up on the singer's health and said, ‘She is doing much better now.
Corona ka koi asar nahi hai uspe. She has a little bit of pneumonia, congestion, which I feel should get cleared today. She is fine now and within one or two days she should get discharged.’ Lata Mangeshkar is one of the most celebrated singers in the country.
She was honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award and France's highest civilian award, Officer of the Legion of Honour, besides numerous national and international awards. In 1974, the Guinness Book of Records ranked her as the most recorded artist in history.
She had reportedly sung over 25,000 songs between 1948 and 1974. She became a recipient of India's highest civilian honour Bharat Ratna in 2001.
