All eyes are on the Academy Awards nomination list that will be out on January 24. With RRR setting our expectations high by winning a Golden Globe, it is left to see how many nominations RRR bags at the Oscars. AR Rahman, who won two awards in 2009, took to Instagram on January 18 where he mentioned that he has cast his vote at the Academy Awards. While he didn’t mention any detail, his fingers crossed emoji led to fans guessing whether he’d cast his vote for RRR.
AR Rahman is the proud recipient of two Oscars - Best Original Score and Best Original Song for Slumdog Millionaire. He also won a Golden Globe and Grammy for the same. The veteran composer took to Instagram on January 18 and shared an email screenshot of a notification that had the words ‘Thank you. Your ballot has been received’ mentioned in bold.

instruction further read, “PLEASE KEEP YOUR VOTING DECISIONS CONFIDENTIAL. It is essential to the integrity and fairness of the process. (This includes, but is not limited to, sharing opinions with the media, and/or posting opinions on blogs, Facebook, Twitter and similar online platforms.) Thank you (sic).” While AR Rahman kept his Academy Awards voting details discreet, he shared the same with fingers crossed emoji. And immediately, fans began wondering if the vote is for RRR.
No sooner did AR Rahman mention that he had cast his Academy Award vote and posted fingers crossed emoji to go with it than fans began the guessing game and wondered if it was for RRR. Comments such as “RRR (sic)”, “RRR it's time for Mr. Keeravani gaaru to bring an Oscar to India. Naatu Naatu (sic)”, “Vote for RRR (sic)”, were posted on AR Rahman’s post.
