Following months of speculations surrounding Alia Bhatt’s involvement in the blockbuster YRF Spy Universe, Yash Raj Films’ CEO Akshaye Widhani, on Tuesday, finally confirmed this major development during FICCI Frames.

In response to persistent inquiries about a new development within the YRF Spy Universe, Akshaye disclosed, “I’ll share the worst-kept secret in the industry, which is, Alia Bhatt is headlining a Spy Universe film, and the schedule starts later this year. But talking about this spy universe, we are just so thrilled and excited about having this IP in the studio.”

Alia Bhatt will share screen space with Sharvari Wagh in the action-packed yet-to-be-titled entertainer, wherein the actors will be seen portraying super-agents. The filming of the actioner is slated to commence later this

year.

Akshaye Widhani added that he thinks of YRF Spy Universe as a financial and cultural juggernaut. “As one of the most prized IPs, we take a lot of pride in it. So there’s a lot of stuff that’s going to come in the spy universe. We’re going to see more and more films getting made under it. But, of course, not going to share everything here. We will talk about it at a more opportune time. For now, I can say that Alia Bhatt is headlining a spy universe film,” said Akshaye.

The YRF Spy Universe kicked off with Salman Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger, followed by Tiger Zinda Hai, and War starring Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff. It continued with Pathaan, featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham, followed by Tiger 3 with Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. The next movie in the franchise is Ayan Mukerji directorial War 2, starring Hrithik, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani.
