Mandisa, an 'American Idol' 2006 contestant and a Grammy-winning singer, died at her Tennessee house. According to a statement on her official social media handle, she was found dead on Thursday, April 18. Mandisa was 47.

The official statement shared on Mandisa's Instagram read, "We can confirm that yesterday Mandisa was found in her home deceased. At this time, we do not know the cause of death or any further details. We ask for your prayers for her family and close-knit circle of friends during this incredibly difficult time. Mandisa was a voice of encouragement and truth to people facing life’s challenges all around the world (sic)."

Although a preliminary cause of death is



not yet available, the Franklin Police Department has initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her mysterious death.

Mandisa gained fame after her participation in season five of 'American Idol' in 2006, where she captivated audiences alongside winner Taylor Hicks.

After her notable success on the show, she launched her debut album 'True Beauty' in 2007, marking the beginning of her career in Christian music.

Mandisa released several albums, including 'Freedom', 'It’s Christmas', 'What if We Were Real', 'Out Of the Dark', and 'Overcomer'. She is also best known for her singles 'Overcomer', 'Stronger', 'Good Morning', and 'My Deliverer'.
