In a historic moment, actor Angad Bedi marked his international sports debut by winning the gold medal in the 400 metres race at the International Masters 2023 Athletics Championship held in Dubai. He dedicated the medal to his father, former cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi, who died last week at the age of 77.
Angad Bedi participated in the race in the 400 metres category to honour his father Bishan Singh Bedi and his legacy as a cricketer. The race was held in Dubai on October 29. The actor, who is going through a rough patch, had earlier told an entertainment publication that sportsmanship is in his blood.
He took to Instagram to share a set of pictures from the tournament and wrote, "Its time. Just be with me dad (folding hands emoji) (sic)."
Angad completed the race in an impressive 67 seconds. The actor has been under a year-long intensive training regimen. Earlier this year, Bedi bagged his first silver medal in a tournament held in
Mumbai.
Reflecting on this achievement, Angad Bedi expressed, "This win is dedicated to my father, he always said keep your head down and let your actions speak. I have always been deeply inspired by his wisdom. I did this race because that’s what my father would have wanted. It’s my way of honouring him and his legacy. Sportsmanship is in my blood. And I want to do exactly what my father would have expected of me."
He continued, "I did this race, in honour of him and his values that he has instilled in me during his wonderful life. He will always be there with me, as my guiding light. I am also deeply grateful for the guidance and mentorship of Coach Miranda, whose expertise has been instrumental in my progress."
On the film front, Angad Bedi will be seen in 'A Legal Affair', which will be streaming on JIO Cinema. On the other hand, he is gearing up for his debut in the southern film industry with 'Hi Nanna', alongside Mrunal Thakur and Nani.
