Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, the eldest biological daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has reportedly filed legal paperwork to remove 'Pitt' from her last name. The news came shortly after Shiloh turned 18 on May 27.
According to sources close to the situation, Shiloh filed the petition on her birthday, indicating a strong desire to make this change as soon as she became an adult. This move has sparked speculation about the reasoning behind it, with some reports suggesting a strained relationship between Shiloh and her father.
Jolie and Pitt's split in 2016 was highly publicised, and custody arrangements for their six children have been a point of contention for several years. However a judge awarded joint custody in 2021, recent developments suggest a potential rift
between Shiloh and Brad Pitt.
Shiloh is not the only one of Jolie and Pitt's children to distance themselves from the Pitt surname. Their daughter Zahara also went by 'Zahara Marley Jolie' when joining her sorority at Spelman College.
As reported by TMZ, their other 15-year-old daughter, Vivienne, has also been avoiding using Pitt as her last name. She was listed only as Vivienne Jolie on a playbill for a Broadway musical Angelina produced, where she recently worked as a PA.
Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Brad Pitt in 2016 after an alleged heated confrontation on a flight, which involved their children. Jolie's legal team claimed in 2022 that Pitt had been "verbally abusive" and "physical" with her and one of their children during the incident.
