Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, known for films like Gangs of Wasseypur and Dev D, is all set to make his debut in Kannada cinema as an actor. The director-turned-actor announced his debut Kannada film, Sujay Shastry’s sports drama 8, where he will play the lead role. Arvind Venkatesh Reddy is producing the film under his banner, AVR Entertainment.
Kashyap shared the news on Instagram with a poster where he can be seen holding a football with an intense expression on his face. In the caption, Anurag Kashyap wrote, “Announcing my first Kannada film as an actor directed by Sujay Shastry and produced by AVR
Entertainments (sic).”
The director of the Kannada film 8, Sujay Shastry, shared a picture with Anurag Kashyap on Instagram and wrote, “One of the best things to happen, the aura that he gives when you are around is so bliss. Thank you so much for the opportunity @anuragkashyap10, looking forward to the blast (sic).”
Anurag Kashyap has also produced a Kannada film called Vaghachipani or Tiger’s Pond, written and directed by Natesh Hegde. The film was showcased at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival, making it the first-ever Kannada feature-length film to be selected.
