AR Rahman's daughter, Khatija Rahman, is making her international debut as a music director with the UK-India co-production film 'Lioness'. The makers made the announcement on Wednesday, November 22. Backed by India's National Film Development Corporation Ltd (NFDC) and The British Film Institute (BFI), UK, 'Lioness' is written and directed by Kajri Babbar.
Khatija ventured into the music industry in 2020 with her independent single 'Farishton'. It was composed by her father, AR Rahman. On making her international debut, Khatija expressed her excitement and said, "Thrilled and honoured to be a part of 'Lioness'. I connected deeply with the
film's values from the moment I heard its compelling story and the reason behind bringing her story to life. Our aspiration is to ensure that Princess Sophia's struggle receives the long-overdue recognition it truly deserves."
'Lioness' is headlined by Paige Sandhu and Aditi Rao Hydari. Kajri Babbar unveiled the first poster of the film at the ongoing International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Film Bazaar.
The poster launch event was attended by Prithul Kumar, Joint Secretary Films and NDFC, Agnieszka Moody, Head of International Relations at BFI and Aditi Rao Hydari during the 'Knowledge Series' panel discussion.
