Baahubali 2 has set several benchmarks and the movie is set to create another record by crossing Rs 100 crore mark on online payment site Paytm, which has witnessed 10x surge in traffic in the last 4 days.
In a bid to cash in on Baahubali fever, Paytm came up a few offers on ticket booking for Baahubali 2. "Book Baahubali 2 tickets on Paytm and get cashback upto Rs 150." "Use Promocode 'BAAHUBALI' to get Flat Rs 100 Cashback, On Min Booking of 2 Tickets on Baahubali 2." Such offers have yielded a very good results with website crashing several times over the weekend, when millions of film goers logged into book tickets.
The website sold millions of tickets across 3500 movie screens in 520 Indian cities. The bosses of Paytm are all thrilled over the massive surge in traffic and they hope it will continue in the second week too. "The company is expecting sustained demand in the second week, with gross collections likely to cross Rs 100 Cr on Paytm alone," read a statement released to the media by the bosses.
"With early sales showing an upward trend, Paytm has
experienced an eight times surge in overall traffic in the film's opening week and accounted for more than 30% market share of the Hindi version's opening weekend. It has also leveraged its massive supply chain of regional theatres, with tier II and tier III theatres accounting for more than 60% of the movie's overall business," the statement added.
The Paytm bosses say that its offline ticketing systems helped theatre owners to drive crowd to the film. "Its QR-based offline ticketing systems available at leading theatres across India have also helped ease the rush outside ticket counters. This has enabled the widest range of multiplex and local theatres to offer a quick and easy offline ticketing experience to Baahubali fans across the country," they said.
Baahubali 2 starring Prabhas and Rana Daggubati was released in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi on April 28. The movie has collected Rs 625 crore gross at the worldwide box office in 4 days and shattered the lifetime record of its sequel - Baahubali: The Beginning, which raked in over Rs 600 crore gross.
