Bhagalpur: Shah Rukh Khan's starer film 'Pathaan', which has been embroiled in controversies for a long time, faced protests and angst ahead of its release in Bihar as people torn the posters of the movie and created ruckus outside cinema halls.

Posters of the film `Pathaan` were torn and burnt outside a cinema hall in Bihar`s Bhagalpur on Tuesday. The youth of Hindu organizations reportedly created ruckus outside cinema halls ahead of the release and also raised slogans warning they would set cinema hall ablaze if the movie is screened.

"Film Chalega Hall Jalega" slogans were raised by the protesting people who said that Hindutva cannot be compromised. The members of the organisation reportedly said that if 'Pathaan' is shown in any theatres of Bhagalpur, it will be strongly opposed.

This comes after right-wing activist Satya Ranjan Bora reportedly lodged a police complaint against Shah Rukh Khan-starrer 'Pathaan' at Geetanagar police station on Monday. 'Pathaan' landed in a

controversy after its song 'Besharam Rang' was released. Many Hindu outfits and BJP leaders had raised objections to the lyrics of the song and the saffron outfit worn by Deepika Padukone. They claimed that it was an attempt to insult and hurt Hindu sentiments and alleged that the makers tried to call saffron a 'besharam rang'.

The Bajrang Dal and Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) were the two main outfits opposing the film, calling for a ban on its release. However, they have now said that they will not oppose the release in Gujarat as they are satisfied with the Central Board of Film Certification’s (CBFC) revisions.

'Pathaan' sold 4.19 lakh tickets for January 25 while War's Day 1 sales were around 4.10 lakh. The top spot is still occupied by Prabhas' Baahubali 2 with 6.50 lakh ticket sales.

'Pathaan' is scheduled for January 25 release. The movie SRK's comeback to the big screen after a hiatus of four years. Helmed by Siddharth Anand, it also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham.
