Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s bodyguard was detained by Customs officials at the Mumbai airport in the wee hours on Saturday.
The Customs officials stopped Shah Rukh Khan’s bodyguard, Ravi Singh, with his luggage at the airport around 12:50 am on November 12. The officials checked the luggage, which revealed empty covers of luxurious watches.
During the search, the Air Intelligence Unit
(AIU) officials found 2 luxurious watch cases and four other watch covers, among others. The Customs officials had stopped the bodyguard over duty payment for the luxury products.
SRK’s bodyguard Ravi Shankar Singh paid the customs duty that amounted to Rs 6.8 lakh which is 3.8 per cent of the value of the dutiable items. A senior customs official later clarified (to the media) that the amount paid was a duty and not a penalty.
