Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone has expressed her concerns over a recent remark made by the Chairman of Larsen & Toubro (L&T), SN Subrahmanyan, regarding employees' work-life balance.

During a meeting with the employees, Subrahmanyan suggested that employees should be willing to work seven days a week to succeed. Deepika shared a post on social media to voice her disapproval, describing the statement as 'shocking'.

In her post, Deepika emphasised the importance of work-life balance and mental health. Her post read, "Shocking to see people in such senior positions make such statements. #mentalhealthmatters (sic)."

On Thursday, the chairperson of multinational firm Larsen & Toubro

advocated for a 90-hour work week, including on Sundays too. "I regret I am not able to make you work on Sundays. If I can make you work on Sundays, I will be more happy. What do you do sitting at home? How long can you stare at your wife?" the L&T chief said during an interaction with employees.

SN Subrahmanyan's remarks have only added fuel to the fire over the ongoing debate on work-life balance, first triggered by Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy in 2023 when he suggested a 70-hour work week. More than his emphasis on strict working hours, it is his awkward reason that has rankled the Internet.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Deepika Padukone was last seen in Rohit Shetty's Singham Again.
