What is being touted as India's biggest Film City, being erected in Uttar Pradesh's Gautam Budh Nagar, could witness the shooting of its first feature film by 2021. Sources said that senior officials of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) and Additional Chief Secretary Home Awanish Awasthi visited the proposed site in Greater Noida on Sunday as part of an official inspection.
Under Yogi Adityanath's regime, the UP state government had earlier announced that it would be developing the said site as the “biggest” film city in the country. The project proposal was approved last week.
As per official reports, about 1,000 acres of land has been set
aside near Sector 21, Yamuna Expressway. From this, about 780 acres would be used for industrial purposes, which includes setting up of studios, while the remaining 220 acres would be available for commercial use. An official inspection by the YEIDA officials was done earlier as well, where they had primarily inspected the roads leading up to the area, among other things.
The report further suggested that work on the Film City would begin within the next three or four months. Sources have confirmed that some noted film directors have already expressed interest in shooting a film in the new FIlm City. The authorities involved have assured that all possible efforts would be made to ensure that happens.
