Rishabh Shetty’s period action thriller Cantara The movie is set to become a franchise, the movie’s producers confirmed on Wednesday.
Written and directed by Rishabh, the hit Kannada film received an overwhelming response after its release in theaters on 30 September.
Made on a paltry budget of Rs 16 crore, the movie grossed Rs 500 crore at the worldwide box office.
Vijay Kiragandur, co-founder of Humble Films, said the
banner was happy with the response to Kantara and the company would soon start making a “prequel or sequel” to the film.
“Rishabh is away and when he comes back, we will discuss what we want to do – a sequel or a prequel. We will have something in a couple of months. We definitely have plans for Kantara 2 but no timeline,” Vijay told PTI in an interview here.
Rishabh had earlier said that he is planning to follow up with a blockbuster movie.
