Mani Ratnam’s period drama, Ponniyin Selvan 2, opened in theatres amid much enthusiasm and anticipation. The second instalment of the epic two-part historical saga is performing well at the box office. Given the craze for the film and the spectacular star cast, everything contributed to the movie’s box office numbers going high.
After PS2 registered a huge company on the opening day, the movie continued to enjoy great footfall in theatres. In the second episode of the epic drama that tells the story of the Chola Dynasty, actors Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi,
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha Krishnan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prakash Raj, and Vikram Prabhu among others repeat their roles.
As per the early estimates, the film surpassed Rs 50 crore at the box office on Day 2. Apart from the promotional tours, the positive word of mouth has resulted in many flocking to the theatres to watch the Mani Ratnam directorial. The first part of the installment grossed Rs. 327 crores nearly in India. And now, with the second one performing well, the second part of the movie is expected to surpass the business of the first instalment.
