A major fire broke out on the permanent set of Jodhaa Akbar at ND Studios in Karjat today (May 7). The entire set has been gutted in fire. However, no casualties have been reported so far. Several fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the fire.
This set was erected for Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik Roshan's 2007 film, which was directed by Ashutosh Gowariker. Later, Ekta Kapoor's historical drama, Jodha Akbar, was also shot here between 2013 and 2014. The show starred Rajat Tokas and Paridhi Sharma in
lead roles.
No casualties have been reported since no shoot was happening due to the lockdown in Maharashtra. The fire was caused because of a fire on the railway tracks that touches the walls of the studios.
The Jodha Akbar set was converted into a permanent set for visitors. The studio is owned by Nitin Desai, who is a popular art director. Many films and TV shows have been shot in this studio. Recently ALTBalaji's Paurashpur, starring Annu Kapoor and Shilpa Shinde was also shot here.
