In just a few hours, 93rd Academy Awards will be announced. The ceremony, which used to be traditionally hosted at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, will be held at various locations this year due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences had announced that the Oscars will stream live this year from multiple locations. In March, Priyanka Chopra and singer Nick Jonas announced the nominations for the Oscars 2021 for a total of 23 categories in a two-part presentation.
Mank leads the ceremony this year with 10 nominations. The Father, Judas and the Black Messiah, Minari, Nomadland, Sound of Metal, and The Trial of the Chicago 7 follow it
with six nominations each.
The Academy has decided not to hold any in-person events. However, only the people who are the nominees themselves, their guests and the ceremony's presenters will be allowed to enter the hall. Just like the past two years, there will be no host.
The Oscars 2021 will air live on Sunday (April 25) starting at 8 pm ET. This means that for the Indian audience, the ceremony will be aired at 5.30 am on Monday (April 26). Oscars 2021 will be broadcast live on Star Movies, Star Movies HD and Star World. The event will also be live-streamed on Disney+ Hotstar. The social media pages of The Academy will be doing the live updates too.
