Filmmaker Nag Ashwin's sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD is set to release in Japan in 2025. Starring an ensemble cast, the film will release on January 3, 2025, coinciding with Shogatsu, Japan's New Year festival. The movie, which has already seen success in India, will be distributed in Japan by Twin, with Kabata Keizo handling the distribution.
Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Nag Ashwin and produced by Vyjayanthi Movies, Kalki 2898 AD has
already been a box office success, grossing approximately Rs 1200 crore worldwide, including a significant Rs 300 crore from the Hindi market alone.
Kalki 2898 AD is set in a future world impacted by climate change and conflict. The film follows Bhairava (Prabhas), a bounty-hunter caught in the midst of chaos and ancient prophecies. Amitabh Bachchan plays Ashwatthama, Deepika Padukone stars as Sumathi, and Kamal Haasan portrays the villainous Supreme Yaskin.
