Ajay Devgn-starrer Raid 2 is set to hit cinemas on May 1. But even before audiences witness the next chapter in the story of the righteous officer Amey Patnaik, the makers have confirmed that they are already working on the third instalment of the franchise. In an exclusive chat with India Today, producers Bhushan Kumar and Kumar Mangat assured that a third film is definitely on the cards.
While talking about his decision to make 'Raid 2,' T-Series head Bhushan Kumar said that when they were working on the first part, co-producer Kumar Mangat had come up with the idea of a sequel. "And now when we were making this film, he already narrated the idea for Raid 3," he shared with a smile.
To this, Mangat exclaimed, "Raid 3 to aayegi, surely aayegi (Raid will happen for sure)."
Bhushan Kumar further spoke about his association with the franchise, which tells the story of an income tax
officer and his efforts to unearth illicit funds across the country. "When we started making the film, there was a certain confidence in the script and the characters. We also started our relationship with Kumar Mangat ji, which has been a successful one. Raid happened, and it became a superhit. He did take time to build on the second one, but now that it's ready, we are all geared up about how much the fans would like the film. The songs of the film have also been received well, something unheard of for thrillers," he shared.
Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, who also helmed the original in 2018, which was based on a real-life income tax raid conducted in the 1980s. The sequel, set to release on May 1, stars Riteish Deshmukh as the antagonist, while Vaani Kapoor will step into the role previously played by Ileana D'Cruz's role, as Ajay Devgn's wife. It also features actors like Rajat Kapoor, Supriya Pathak, and Amit Sial, among others.
