On April 7, The Special Court convicted actors and politicians, Sarathkumar, Radikaa and producer Listin Stephen in a cheque bounce case. The court also sentenced Sarathkumar and Radikaa to one-year imprisonment and imposed a penalty of Rs 5 crore in connection with the case. Radiance Media Private Ltd had filed a plea against the couple in 2018.
Sarathkumar, Radikaa and Listin Stephen are partners in Magic Frames Company, which produced Idhu Enna Maayam. Directed by AL Vijay, the film starred Vikram Prabhu and Keerthy Suresh in lead roles. The film, which released in 2015, received negative reviews from critics and fans alike.
Sarathkumar,
Radikaa and Listin had borrowed Rs 1.50 crore from Radiance Media and had issued two cheques in return. After this, Sarathkumar yet again borrowed Rs 50 lakh from Radiance Media. This time, he issued five cheques of Rs 10 lakh each. However, these cheques, when presented at the bank, bounced.
The trio had promised to return the money in a year. Since they failed to return the borrowed amount, Radiance Media had filed a petition against them.
The case at the Saidapet fast track court was recently transferred to the Special Court for MP/MLAs. Judge N Alicia heard the case today (April 7) and sentenced Radikaa and Sarathkumar to one year of imprisonment.
