Veteran actors Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra's 'Sholay', co-written by veteran screenwriters Salim-Javed, will have a special screening in Mumbai on August 31. The film's re-release will celebrate the magic of Salim-Javed after 50 years.
One of Salim-Javed's most iconic works, 'Sholay', will have a 'one-time only screening' in Mumbai. The film will celebrate the legacy of 'Angry Young Men' Salim-Javed. The re-release will take place on August 31 from 5.30 pm at Regal Cinema in Mumbai. 'Sholay' will be screened via a 50-year-old vintage cinemascope print. Ramesh Sippy, who directed the film, will be present alongside Salim-Javed at the special
screening.
"Celebrate the magic of Salim-Javed 50 years later. One time screening of Sholay in cinemas this Saturday 31st August! (sic)", mentioned Zoya Akhtar's Tiger Baby Productions' Instagram handle while making the announcement.
In a promotional video for the Prime Video documentary 'Angry Young Men' about Salim-Javed, Salman Khan was asked by host Farah Khan which Salim-Javed film he would want to remake. Without hesitation, Salman instantly replied, "Sholay."
"If I had to remake any of their films, I would want to remake Sholay. I can play Jai and Veeru both, I can also play Gabbar," he said.
