Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has made a couple of remakes in his career (Wanted, Ready). The actor recently expressed interest in remaking his father Salim Khan and former scriptwriter and lyricist, Javed Akhtar's iconic film, Sholay.
In a promotional video released by Prime Video for Salim-Javed's documentary, Angry Young Men, Salman was asked by host Farah Khan about the Salim-Javed film he would want to remake. Without so much as pausing for a beat, Salman replied,
"Sholay."
"If I had to remake any of their films, I would want to remake Sholay. I can play Jai and Veeru both, I can also play Gabbar," he added as everyone laughed.
Javed Akhtar, who was also present for the roundtable, remembered how many people from the cast wanted to play the villainous Gabbar, originally portrayed by the late actor Amjad Khan. "Amitabh Bachchan and Sanjeev Kumar said they wanted to play Gabbar. However, Dharmendra never said he wanted that part, as he was happy with his role," Akhtar added.
