Ahead of its highly anticipated release across cinemas worldwide, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has sold the satellite, digital, theatrical (India plus overseas) and music rights of his forthcoming feature Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai for an unprecedented amount of Rs 230 crore to Zee Studios. Amid the coronavirus pandemic, this is said to be the biggest deal signed in Bollywood.
Reports also suggest that the deal Salman Khan's production house, Salman Khan Films (SKF), has signed with Zee Studios is a blanket deal, as Khan's other production, Kaagaz, starring Pankaj Tripathi in the lead, is set to debut on Zee5. Salman's last few releases, namely Race 3, Bharat and Dabangg 3, have also premiered on television on Zee channels.
However, amid rumours that
the makers might go the digital way if the situation fails to normalise, the actor received requests from various single-screen theatre owners and their associations to release his next Eid offering, Radhe, in cinemas only. Needless to say, this speaks volumes about the importance that exhibitors give to star value. Also, the mammoth numbers related to the music and satellite rights further reiterate the perceived musical success of Khan's film albums and the steady viewership of his movies on TV, respectively.
Radhe has an ensemble cast, headlined by actors like Randeep Hooda, Disha Patani and Jackie Shroff. The film has been directed by Prabhudheva and the makers are planning for an Eid 2021 release, although no official announcement has been made by the team yet.
