Sanya Malhotra bags Best Actress award at New York Indian Film Festival

Sanya Malhotra won the Best Actress award for her role in 'Mrs' at the New York Indian Film Festival 2024. The film is a remake of the Malayalam film, 'The Great Indian Kitchen', which revolves around Sanya's character who navigates the challenges and expectations imposed by society and her marital life.

'Mrs', which has only travelled to film festivals, will soon release in theatres. Filmmaker Arati Kadav was also nominated



in the Best Director category.

In 'Mrs', Sanya Malhotra portrays a woman navigating the challenges of being a wife while yearning to discover her own path and express herself freely. The film tackles societal pressures to conform, and Sanya's performance has resonated with critics and audiences at film festivals.

Earlier this year, Sanya received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for her performance in 'Kathal'.
