Shahid Kapoor will play the role of an enfant terrible in Arjun Reddy’s Hindi remake, a role made memorable by Vijay Deverakonda in Telugu. Shahid has been in the talks to be a part of the remake for a while now but gave his nod after finishing work on Batti Gul Meter Chalu.
The actor took to Twitter to share the news and wrote, “Team ARJUN REDDY is READY !!Here we go. Wish us luck guys. @imvangasandeep @MuradKhetani @ashwinvarde.”
Sandeep Vanga, the man who helmed the original film will also be the director of Shahid’s movie. The female lead has not been confirmed as of now. The project will be bankrolled by Ashwin Varde and Murad
Khetani.
Arjun Reddy is about a medical student falling in love with his junior at first sight and how their relationship progresses. The film starred Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey in lead roles. Despite the film receiving criticism from certain quarters for being regressive is seen as a landmark in Telugu cinema for its honest portrayal of the character. The film went on to become a blockbuster.
Arjun Reddy also had a connect with the local population, however, will a remake work? We will have to see.
Shahid Kapoor was last seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavat opposite Deepika Padukone and will be seen paired opposite Shraddha Kapoor in Batti Gul Meter Chalu.
