Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao's 'Stree 2' is setting the box office on fire. The film has already crossed the benchmark of Rs 100 crore in India, and is running at a staggering Rs 125 crore gross worldwide, reported the trade website Sacnilk.
Directed by Amar Kaushik, the horror-comedy became the first Bollywood film of the year to do the Rs 100 crore business in two days. It is also the biggest Bollywood opener of the year at Rs 46 crore nett (Rs 54.35 crore nett including paid previews).
'Stree 2' is expected to become one of the top 10 highest-grossing Bollywood films at the worldwide box office. While it is too early to gauge its lifetime run right now, the film should aim to cross Rs 500 crore gross
at the global ticket window comfortably.
Interestingly, 'Stree 2' is only the fourth Bollywood film this year to have done Rs 100 crore, fifth if we include the business of 'Kalki 2898 AD' Hindi version. The list includes 'Fighter' (Rs 212.73 crore), 'Shaitaan' (Rs 147.97 crore) and 'Munjya' (Rs 101.6 crore). It is also the 10th Indian film to have achieved the feat this year.
For the film's director, it is his third Rs 100 crore grosser after 'Stree' and 'Bala'.
'Stree 2' is expected to reach Rs 200 crore nett by the end of its first extended weekend. The film is performing strongly at the bx office, and Saturday-Sunday are only going to see an evident growth in its collection.
