Pop star Taylor Swift has failed to receive a single MTV VMA nominations this year, which is led by Beyonce, who has 11 nods. Swift's zero nominations is a surprising turn of events for the 26-year-old singer, who led the pack of honorees at last year's ceremony with 10 nominations for "Bad Blood". She went on to win four of them, including the coveted Video Of The Year for her star-studded song.
The snub comes despite the fact that the six-time VMA winner released three music videos over the past year — "Wildest Dreams", "Out Of The Woods" and "New Romantics".
The "Wildest Dreams" clip even debuted during the 2015 VMA preshow.
Many think that MTV may
have chosen a side in the Kim Kardashian-Kanye West-Taylor Swift feud. The rapper and pop star's shady narrative actually began back in 2009 at the VMAs, when Kanye infamously took over the microphone during her Best Female Video' acceptance speech.
There is also a possibility that Swift wasn't eligible this year because she took home so many awards in 2015 and her album came out in late 2014. It is not the first time the MTV Video Music Awards has been hit with backlash over a high-profile snub.
Just last year, it made headlines when Nicki Minaj slammed MTV for overlooking "Anaconda" in the Video of the Year category.
