The Kerala Story released in theatres on May 5 amid much controversy. Upon release, it faced strong reactions- both positive and negative. While it was made tax-free within a week in several states, including Haryana, UP and MP, the film was also banned in West Bengal from May 8. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had claimed that the film could affect the law and order situation in the state. Now, Vipul Amrutlal Shah has pleaded the CM to watch the film with them and discuss it.
Amid the ban in West Bengal, Vipul Amrutlal Shah once again urged CM Mamata Banerjee ‘with folded hands’ to watch the film. He told ANI, "It was just an excuse that there could be a law and
order situation. When the film was screened in Bengal for 3.5 days, there was not even one incident. It means there was no chance of any incident. This excuse was rejected by the Supreme Court today...Now people of West Bengal and Tamil Nadu will enjoy this film."
He further added, “With folded hands, I would like to tell Mamata Didi to watch this film with us and discuss with us if she finds anything as such. We would like to listen to all her valid criticisms and present our point of view.”
Earlier, Vipul Amrutlal Shah had said, “If that is what she has done, we will take legal action. Whatever is possible under the provisions of law, we will fight.”
