Veteran actor Zia Mohyeddin passed away on Monday, February 13, at the age of 91. His death marked the end of an era for Pakistani cinema. He was the first Pakistani actor to have made a name for himself in Hollywood. He is best known to many for his work in Lawrence of Arabia and Immaculate Conception. The actor also hosted The Zia Mohyeddin Show, which became popular in Pakistan.
Zia Mohyeddin is no more. The veteran actor
breathed his last on Monday, February 13, in Karachi.
Pakistan’s Information and Broadcasting ministry mourned his demise and called him a cultural icon.
“We mourn the loss of the legendary Zia Mohyeddin, a true icon of Pakistan's art and culture. He was an intellectual, a great human, and an esteemed friend to many. His contributions to the country and arts will never be forgotten,” the tweet read.
