Ranbir Kapoor's 'Animal' hit the screens on December 1 and has garnered polarising opinions from critics and fans. Now, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma reviewed the film and praised its director, Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Sharing a long note on X, RGV even applauded Ranbir's performance in 'Animal'(Spoilers ahead).
On December 2, Ram Gopal Varma took to X and shared his review of 'Animal'. He even said that 'Animal' is not merely a film, but a 'social statement'. Describing one of the scenes, he wrote, "One of my favourite moments is when was against everyone’s expectations, including me in the audience, was that he (Ranbir’s character Vijay), will come back with a baseball bat or something, but when he comes back with a machine gun that almost
made us all fall off our chairs and that moment is a pure cinematic gem (sic)."
Sharing negative feedback of the film, Ram Gopal Varma wrote that he did not connect to the father-son relationship. He also stated that he didn't like the scene in which Ranvijay (Ranbir's character) asks Zoya (Tripti Dimri's character) to lick his shoes. RGV claimed that he 'wants to lick both Ranbir and Sandeep's shoes' as a gesture of praise.
Later in his review, Ram appreciated Ranbir's performance and compared him to Hollywood superstar Leonardo Di Caprio. "Except for that one single scene where he asks that girl to lick his shoe, I felt his performance was superior to even of Leonardo de Caprio in Wolf of Wall Street (sic)", RGV wrote.
