Shah Rukh Khan reportedly has replaced Aamir Khan in Rakesh Sharma's biopic titled Salute. The film was reportedly offered to Priyanka Chopra, but the actor declined it.
A few days ago, there were several reports making the rounds about Kareena Kapoor Khan approached to play the female lead in Salute. Today, at the trailer launch event of Veere Di Wedding, when Kareena was asked about the same, she stated, "Whatever film I choose, I will announce about it."
Well, that puts an end to all the rumours!
Talking about SRK replacing Aamir in the film, a source had earlier said, "Aamir strongly recommended the Rakesh Sharma biopic to Shah Rukh as a script worth walking that extra mile for. More so, since Aamir intends to devote a substantial period of his time to a very dear project of his, presumably the Mahabharat, and has stopped
accepting any other assignments currently."
As per reports in DNA, SRK is leaving no stone unturned in taking Aamir's help for researching the project and prepping well for the same. A source revealed DNA, "King Khan has asked Aamir to help him out with the research he did for the film when he was supposed to do it. Knowing what a perfectionist Aamir is, he must have done detailed research and SRK will only benefit from that."
Post wrapping the shoot of Zero, SRK will start prepping for Salute from May onwards, according to sources. A source revealed, "SRK will wrap Zero by April end, after which he will be busy for the next three months prepping up for his character in Salute. He will be doing his own research with his team and studying the nuances to play the astronaut. That’s why he’s taken a three-month break in between to devote himself fully to the biopic."
