Actor Manchu Vishnu is now the new president for Movie Artistes’ Association (MAA) after he defeated his opponent Prakash Raj with 381 votes to grab the coveted post on Sunday. Prakash Raj secured 270 votes in the bitterly fought polls.
The day after the victory, Manchu Vishnu on Monday tweeted saying he is humbled by the love and support from the film fraternity. “Before I say anything more on the MAA election, the counting for the Executive Members (EC) members, Joint Secretary and one of the Vice President’s post start at 11 am today. Will talk after
that! (sic)” his tweet reads.
Vishnu who had earlier expressed his interest to contest the MAA elections, was stopped by his father Mohan Babu. However, in the wake of other developments and controversies surrounding the association, Mohan Babu suggested his son to vie for the president’s post of MAA in 2021 elections. Besides amassing support from bigwigs of the industry, the suggestions and advice from former MAA president Naresh enabled Manchu Vishnu to chart a strategic plan during campaigning.
