Despite receiving good reviews, the Sridevi starrer 'MOM' witnessed a low opening at the box-office.
According to Box Office India, the movie earned Rs. 2.50 crore on its opening day, which is slightly higher than her last Hindi movie, 'English Vinglish,' which had earned INR 2.25 crore on its opening day.
The movie opened in 1806 screens across India and is being compared to Raveena Tandon's 'Maatr', which also shared a similar plot.
'Hindi Medium' which released in May had taken a similar opening of
2.50 crore but had managed to pick up well and had a great run at the Box Office.
The opening of 'Mom' is actually much better than 'Hindi Medium', as that had a tax exemption in Maharashtra from day one so its gross figures are less at 3.20 crore against the 4 crore of Mom.
The movie has released alongside Paresh Rawal and Katrik Aaryan's 'Guest Iin London', which minted Rs. 1.25 crore on its day one.
Helmed by Ravi Udyawar, 'Mom' stars Sridevi, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Akshaye Khanna in pivotal roles.
