Mumbai (Siasat News): Veteran Hindi film actress Nanda passed away on Tuesday morning. She was 75.
Born to Vinayak Damodar Karnataki, a Marathi film actor-director, Nanda began her film career as a child artist. She got her first break as the lead actress in V Shantaram’s ‘Toofan aur Diya’, a film that revolved around brother-sister bond.
She got engaged to Manmohan Desai in 1992, who died after falling from the terrace of his apartment in 1994, and since then remained unmarried.
style="margin-top: 0.5em; margin-bottom: 0.9em;">Nanda acted in films like ‘Dhool Ka Phool’, ‘Dulhan’, ‘Bhabhi’, ‘Naya Sansar’, ‘Jab Jab Phool Khile’, ‘Gumnaam’, ‘Shor’, ‘Parineeta’. ‘Prem Rog’, which released in 1983, starring Padmini Kolhapure and Rishi Kapoor was her last film.
She will always be remembered for playing negative role against late Rajesh Khanna in B R Chopra's 'Ittefaq' which became a huge hit. This pair acted in two other films 'The Train' and 'Joru Ka Ghulam'.
Nanda always wanted to act with thespian Dilip Kumar and her this desire was again fulfilled by B R Chopra when she was cast in 'Mazdoor'. Her best friends in the industry were Waheeda Rehman and Asha Parekh.
The family sources did not reveal anything as when her last rites would be performed.
