WAVES Awards launched

Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat yesterday launched WAVES Bazaar, WAH Ustaad challenge and WAVES Awards in New Delhi. The Union Ministers also launched ‘Create in India Challenge’ Season 1, inviting international participation as a part of WAVES 2025. 

Addressing the gathering, Mr Vaishnaw said India is gaining a lot of importance in the world forum for its heritage, rich culture and storytelling. He added that Indian heritage, storytelling tradition, and rich culture, known as the Orange Economy, are receiving the same significance on the global forum as technology and the economy. He hoped that India would soon become the capital ofthe  creative economy. He further said that the upcoming WAVES will be the world’s first Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit. He urged all creators to not miss this opportunity.
 
Speaking on the occasion, Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said India is a land of storytellers and these initiatives launched today will bring India’s soft power to the rest of the world. He said India’s culture and heritage are now being



recognised all over the world, be it yoga or Ayurveda. He said India is progressing in the spheres of economy, technology, and defence. Mr Shekhawat highlighted that India’s culture is the true power of the country. He exuded confidence that WAVES will be able to tap into this. 
 
Information and Broadcasting Secretary Sanjay Jaju said the WAVES Bazaar is a transformative initiative which will bring together buyers and sellers of media-related content. He said this dynamic platform is going to bridge geographical boundaries and allow all the creators to put out their products. WAH Ustaad is a unique classical and semi-classical talent hunt. The nominations for the WAVES Awards will open on the 15th of February. 
 
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has outlined his vision for the World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES) and making India the creative capital of the world. India is one of the biggest producers of films witha  diverse cultural tapestry and a vibrant creator ecosystem. WAVES will be a global celebration of craft, creativity, talent and innovation.
