The Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Sanjay Jaju has said that the WAVES summit to be held in Mumbai from the 1st to the 4th of May will be one of its kind summit where all the verticals of media and entertainment will get together. Speaking at the inauguration of the GAFX event for the AVGC sector in Bengaluru yesterday, Sanjay Jaju said that the summit will create opportunities for content creators and technology experts to come together and evolve a growth path for the AVGC sector in the country. Mentioning storytelling of India’s rich culture and heritage since the days of Ramayana, he added that the Prime Minister has envisioned making Bharat conducive for the Indian creators to create content for the world and, thereby, contribute to the orange economy.

observed that India holds just two per cent of the media and entertainment industry globally. He added that it has to grow faster with the talent and content India holds traditionally. Mr Jaju informed that the Indian Institute of Creative Technology will come up in Mumbai and start functioning from the 1st of April from a temporary campus. He added that this will help bring technology and content creators together and develop skilled manpower in the AVGC sector.
Speaking about the India challenge launched as part of the WAVES Summit, Mr Jaju said that over a lakh contents are submitted in 32 strands of the challenge and the best will be selected by the experts. The best content creators will be incubated and nurtured so that they can grow into prominent companies.
